The BOOTH shop “Minuet Doll×72ca” has brought us pop and cute avatars, as well as general-purpose gel nail tips like “MDollnail”.

In particular, you’ll likely come across “MDollnail” with a high probability once you start getting deep into avatar customization! By the way, they are celebrating their 5th anniversary this year.

From “Minuet Doll×72ca”, a name you have surely heard at least once, their first mascot avatar, “Uonyan-o”, will be released on Friday, May 1st at 18:00!

And this time, the author was kindly provided with a sample of “Uonyan-o” by Minuet Doll. In this article, I will provide an overview of this small and adorable kitten avatar and its related initiatives, while also showing you what it’s like to actually move around in it, complete with photos!

About “Uonyan-o”

“Uonyan-o” is a 3D model for VRChat avatars with the concept of a “kitten who identifies as a mermaid”. It is a kitten wearing a costume with a mermaid-like tail.

The avatar itself is compatible with both PC and Mobile. It is an avatar that can be used on standalone VR headsets like the “Meta Quest 3” and “PICO 4 Ultra”, as well as on smartphones.

Three sets of facial expressions are included. It is also equipped with various gimmicks, such as yawning when you open both hands (hand sign set to Open), and smiling with heart-shaped bubble particles when you pet it. It even shows a “beckoning cat pose” when in AFK mode!

The retail price is 500 yen. A sale will be held from the release date until Sunday, May 10th, during which it will be sold for 250 yen, 50% off.

Furthermore, at the same time as the avatar release, a material product for customization called “Colorful Uonyan-o!” will also be released. Anyone can easily use the 20 color variations.

This is sold for 500 yen individually, or 1000 yen for the full set. By the way, this will also be 50% off from the release date until Sunday, May 10th.

And it seems that “Uonyan-o” is planned to be listed not only on BOOTH but also on the VRChat Avatar Marketplace (currently under review, date TBD).

It looks like it will be an easy-to-use and cute avatar even for those who are still new to VRChat!

Actually becoming “Uonyan-o”

So, I actually became Uonyan-o myself!

……So tiny!! It is quite small even among mascot avatars. Its height in VRChat terms was 0.28m.

When you are this small, everything in the world looks huge. Experiencing the perspective of a kitten is actually quite fun.

One of its major features is this costume with a mermaid-like tail.The tail is always moving energetically. The clear material is so stylish!

The hands come complete withsquishy paw pads! A real feast for the eyes. And there’s a meticulous touch where the claws extend and retract in sync with hand signs.

The expressions are also rich. You can switch not only between expressions with hand signs but also to an expression for when you’re being petted on the head, so you can become many different types of kittens.

I also tried on the color variations added in ‘Colorful Uonyan-o!’. Personally, these two colors are my favorites.

Since not just the colors but also the patterns differ from the default, there’s the fun of choosing the one you like best. By the way,each color variation is provided as a Prefab, so you just need to place the color you want to use into the Scene!

A cute, tiny kitten that looks great at the beach or underwater. Whether you want to sit quietly in a world or act freely at a friend’s feet, this is an avatar that will definitely make your VRChat life more pop!

The production is being handled by the video production team ‘Banzai Studio’, who are active within VRChat. It’s said to be a cute video where many Uonyan-os move around in a comical, bustling way. I’m looking forward to the release!

‘Charaket’ Exhibition

And it seems that “Uonyan-o” will be exhibited at the VRChat exhibition event “Charaket,” which will be held from Saturday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 10th!
