very easy to be tempted to be discouraged when we look out there in the world and we see people who aren’t living for God and they’re having success and they’re prospering in many ways. Whereas you are living for God and that might not be your reality. Maybe you’re really struggling and you think to yourself, God, this just isn’t fair. Well, there’s a really interesting verse in Psalm 37:7 and it says, “Fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices.” And the reason for this is because everything is passing away. God sees your faithfulness and this is what will matter in the end. When you get to the end of this life, no matter how good, no matter how bad, all of that will pass away and you’re going to stand before God. And for the believer, all of those things that you see other people prospering and succeeding in, no matter how good they are, you’re going to have something infinitely greater than that. And those people, if they don’t repent and put their trust in God, are going to a place which is going to be worse than anything they could imagine. So that should really change your perspective.
