Cymric cat.
The Cymric cat (formerly known as the long-haired Manx) is one of the cat breeds resulting from a natural genetic mutation which is the oldest cat breed in the world. The Cymric cat is a long-haired version of the Manx breed. One of its special characteristics is having a short tail.
History.
Cymric cats and Manx cats are cat breeds that originate from the Isle of Man in England. Many people think that the Cymric cat is the result of a cross between a Manx cat and a Persian cat that was carried out around the 1930s to 1940s. In 1960, the Cymric cat was first bred by two cat breeders named Blair Wright from Canada and Leslie Falteisek from the United States. They both decided to breed the Cymric cat breed, so that the standards and genetic traits of the Cymric cat breed would be perfect and could be recognized by cat registration organizations. Originally, this breed was called Longhaired Manx. Then in 1989 or 1990, the name was changed to cymric cat. The word “cymric” comes from English, which means “welsh”.
Cateristics.
Cymric cats have the same characteristics as Manx cats, except for their fur. Cymric cats have long fur, while Manx cats have short fur.
Personality.
Cymric cats are cats that like to follow their owners around. These cats are like dogs, they like to growl when there is a disturbance that they don’t like. The uniqueness of the nature of Cymric cats is that Cymric cats like shiny things, such as jewelry.
