His leg is broken (Siamese cat)

Newman’s leg is broken 😢

Unfortunately, the previous break that Newman had when he was surrendered to the shelter back in November didn’t heal properly or heal completely. While he originally was doing better when first rescued with Dr Nancy, he began to have a little more trouble walking once transferred to our care in Cocoa. We aren’t sure if the original break didn’t heal properly and made it very fragile (maybe allowing for one wrong landing to break it again) OR maybe the original break just didn’t fully heal.

Newman is at the surgeon now and we are hopeful that there will be a solution for us to save his leg!

Newman was originally surrendered to the shelter back in November as his caretaker was worried about his leg. She didn’t want him released back on her property as she had cancer, and didn’t know if there would be anyone to care for him there. As the shelter thought he was a feral outdoor cat, he had very few options there. Dr Nancy offered to take him and work with him, thus saving his life! Newman turned out to be a friendly and sweet biscuit maker. He came to the Cocoa location for adoption, but we noticed his leg got worse. He went back to Dr Nancy for xrays and is now at the board certified surgeon to see if we can save his leg!
