  1. Its too bad that people get so much amusement from tormenting their pets. Putting them in such a "scared" situation. Doesn't matter if the cat could or couldn't run away. The physical response to fear cannot be faked.

  2. You play with your pets when they're scared or pissed off so they eventually learn that violent reactions are an ineffective deturrent for warding off people. This makes them less hostile towards guests they don't know.

  3. to everyone bitching about this, stop. It was a towel and the owner was just playing. The cat would have run away if he was really scared. It wasn't like he was swinging a hammer at the cat. Just because he wasn't loving all over the cat in this vid doesn't mean he mistreats his animals either.

  4. You don't understand. We, humans, know it was a towel. But to that kitten it was death. You make light of another living being's terror. That's sick.

  5. yeah i have had many times playing when my cats are playing with each other and they often have that puffed up, sideways walk thing going on too… but the body language, vocals and facial expressions are different when they are playing. this poor cat was clearly scared… *peacelove*

  6. people like to pretend their smart by saying theyr abusing making the cat scared bla bla bla im sure they have no idea how to treat their own pets. theyr OBVIOUSLY playing cant u tease ur pet for a bit its just normal. stop pitying the cat coz u shud start pitying urself.

  7. Oh come on, you whiners… every cat can stand a little fighting… they do it every night in my garden and arent harmed at all.
Even to annoy your housecat, gives them a little action they surely need. they are still domesticated wildcats, not humans.. 🙂

  9. BAH! To all of you fools calling this "animal cruelty"!!!
Earl there is under no real threat, and like many have said before, if he'd been REALLY scared, he would've ran away.
Sure, he's showing aggression to the "unknown" object but this is just playing.
And hey, if it's the one way to get your cat to exercise a little, teasing them a little like this is just fine.

For example, a friend of mine had an old, grumpy female cat who never liked any of her friends, relatives or boyfriends she had, hissed at them and clawed their hands bloody if they tried to touch her, and just layed around in her bed all day lazing around until I just went to pet her.
She hissed at me and paw-slapped my hands but I kept at it, teasing her a little every day I was there,
Eventually she started to allow me to touch her, and pet her, and started to lay on my lap and purrr like a V8 whenever I was visiting.
Off course I still kept teasing her every time, and she hissed, paw-slapped and clawed some, but still she quite clearly liked me more than before.
I dunno, maybe she got to vent out some aggression or maybe she just really liked the attention, but my point is that this kind of minor teasing has nothing to do with actual animal abuse.
    DEAL WITH IT!
