Grooming a Cornish Rex, Part 5

Grooming a Cornish Rex, Part 5

now for the final part of this grooming for a cornish rex is to do his ears you’ve got your ear cleanser and there’s a couple of ways you can do this you can just take the nozzle and stick it right in the ear and give a good squeeze you can take a cotton ball and saturate the cotton ball and hold that over his ear and squeeze and massage or you can take one of these cotton makeup sponges and do the same thing i’m used to doing it this way so again you’ve got a hold of his head put your fingers around his ears so you’ve got a hold of that and stick that little nozzle in there and give it a good squeeze and then you’ll want to shake it out but hold on to him and massage for about 10 seconds or so the shape of a cat’s ear canal is like an l so when you’re massaging you’re getting that liquid down to the bottom of the ear and back up again let him shake his head and then take your q-tip fold the ear over the top of his head you’re okay over the top of his head hold on to him again put your fingers around there and then clean out what part of the ear you can see the little shell-like part at the top and the normal debris that comes out of his ear should be just light brown wax just like this on this q-tip you’re okay and then again do the other ear you’re okay yeah okay you’re fine and holding on to him like this so you’ve got a hold of his head sort of like a little baseball you you’ve got your you’re in control so to speak um fold that flap over there and clean out that little shell-like part you’re okay all right we’re done with the grooming session thank goodness

Cleaning the ears and whew, all done in 15 minutes!

  1. Great videos! What a cute kitten. 🙂 I've found that it's easier to trim Weedog's nails if I take her outside and sit in the sun in a place where she can see the birds feeding at the bird table – it keeps her mind occupied and I get the nails trimmed in no time. 🙂
