Cordelia is finally free from a collar that was slicing her skin
Cordelia was hobbling around with her front foot somehow stuck in her collar. The collar was like a dull knife, slowly and painfully slicing into her chest and armpit.
A Fort Walton Beach woman noticed the poor black cat struggling to walk but couldn’t get near it. With a SOCKS trap, the cat made it to our shelter Wednesday, May 7, and we immediately cut off the collar. Underneath was a raw, extremely infected wound.
Due to the location and severity, OnPoint Veterinary Urgent Care had to stitch a bandage to her skin.
“After I got her fed and set up, she just laid down and made really small biscuits,” SOCKS employee Fiona Grannan wrote about this sweet, 2-year-old cat.
Cordelia has been back and forth to the vet for bandage changes and is healing well. The initial bill was $750, and follow-up visits have added $280 so far.
