Welcome my channel where I spend all my time grooming cats.
These videos are to help bring awareness and education to the niche world of cat grooming.
While not all cats need grooming, some do, for a variety of reasons including:
Breed specific needs (like Persians and Maine Coons)
Assisting with allergies
Dander and Dandruff
Stud Tail, chin acne and excess sebum production
Preventing matting of the coat
Assisting with quality of life – particularly for older cats
Post-furball surgery preventative grooming and because
Clean coats look and feels great, and correlate with healthier cats too
Non sedated cat grooming continues to become more popular and is a healthy alternative to vet sedated grooming to remove matted and pelted fur
Introducing cats to the experience when they are young also helps desensitize them to the grooming process and I believe leads to improvements in their confidence at home.
I’m passionate about all things cats and hope these videos provide an honest reflection of the overall experiences we encounter as cat groomers.
My salon Purrf Cat Grooming is in Perth, Western Australia
I don’t claim to be the ‘best’ cat groomer (if such a thing exists) but I do believe that I’ll always be learning, and if you’re a fellow cat groomer who wants to offer me constructive feedback, I’m all ears.
If you’re thinking of becoming a cat groomer, I think it’s essential to get proper training first. I studied through the NCGI and can recommend their syllabus and options for finding trainers across many parts of the world.
I must discourage trying DIY cat grooming without any training. Particularly if it involves any work with blades.
I want to be an advocate who promotes the health, welfare and happiness of all cats and cat owners.
