It’s finally time for Maine Coon cat Dexter to meet his kittens!
They have seen each other through the plastic wall before, but it will be a whole different thing when Dexter enters the room and meets his kittens nose to nose for the first time ever!

Woah Dexter, that's a lot of hissing and grumblings lol, not a family man eh? 😸😸 For some reason he seemed slightly less annoyed with Brock's presence lol. Good for the kittens for standing their ground though! Their probably like "What did we do wrong" 😸😸😸
Dexter seems like he is telling them "I am not Buster so dont think twice about getting anything iver on me". I can see that Ash gets his fierce "Growling" from his father. After watching Ash play with "The Crinkle Toy" and growling the whole time. This is going to be very interesting how it plays out . But Luna will definitely make sure that Dexter knows she is in charge!!😮
Now we know where Ash gets is low growlies from….

Why are you forcing their interaction when Dad is clearly uncomfortable?
Dexter actually did really good. He's always like this upon meeting any cat even kittens for the first time. 😊
My, someone woke up on yhe wrong side of the litter box this morning!
Generally cat fathers are not welcome by mom nor are they comfortable around kittens, even their own (they can't smell them and ID them as their offspring). Dogs are the same way. They can learn to be otherwise but it's not their general nature. I don't blame Dexter, he's a young fellow and isn't sure how to react around babies he feels no bond to and a suddenly hostile female who used to act quite differently. Everybody will calm down after the kittens get bigger and more independent and things chill out a bit.

I think Dexter is hissing because he is not comfortable there.
Well, a bit of a shaky start but some cats take longer to get used to new family members than others. Dexter was already more calm the next day still. Also, the kittens behaved really well so that will help Dexter warm up to them more quickly. 😊

Listen to that growl…thats were Ash gets his growly voice from with the crunchy toy!!! Mistys like what did i do? And Brocks like ok papa you master i listen and learn from you!!! And Ash is like ok ya you dont scare me…..i will growl back….

Why waiting so late for him to meet them?
I think what is going on with Dexter is more fear and territoriality than aggression. He may not be as well socialized as the others. He is, however, one formidable looking creature!
A good beginning. Dexter might have growled, but he is more careful, then hostile. Luna is a great mother, so the kittens are safe.
He was definitely interested in sniffing them when it didn't seem like they were ambushing him or getting up in his personal space. And he was also standoffish when it was Ada and her siblings, yet he and Ada get along now. It's just gonna take time with Dexter, he's not the laid back Buster after all.
Poor Dexter! I always expect to see him with a cigarette pack rolled in the sleeve of his t-shirt, to show he’s one of the cool guys. And the kittens just look at him: “dude, what is your problem?”. Just no respect, poor guy. 💕🇨🇦

Kittens did well for the first time with Daddy Dexter. He doesn’t really know they’re his babies. Luna gave him instructions though. Luna is always near to protect. Misty is pensive, Brock was brave to lay close and Ash poked him. They’ll be buddies very soon. Cats being cats.
Misty and Brock and Ash are so beautiful and adorable🥰🤗Dexter is such a grumpy Dad Dexter needs a couple of more time to realize he is a Dad . Luna is good Mommy . Overall, I think it went really well for a first meeting god bless all your cats and kitten and you too
